Notes from the overground. |
If you are a long-timer, you know the the title of
this page is an homage to one of my idols, the late Andy
Kaufman, who produced Uncle Andy's Fun House back around
the late 70's or early 80's. I just finished Zmuda's new
book about Andy, and he told a great story that I hadn't
heard before. Kaufman was friends with Richard Beymer,
the guy who years earlier had played Tony in West Side
Story, and together they concocted a great club act.
Beymer would go on as Andy's guest, and tell a tearful
story about the fact that he was only washed up in
showbiz because they didn't let him do his own singing in
West Side Story. Then, attempting to prove his point, he
would break into the worst, most god-awful version of
"Maria" ever heard, until the audience was
uncomfortable and embarrassed for him. Neither Beymer nor
Andy ever let the audience in on the gag (According to
Zmuda, Beymer could actually sing quite well). Kaufman
wanted to take the act to television, on Letterman or
something, but Beymer drew the line at making a fool of
himself in front of a few dozen people, and would not do
so on worldwide television in front of millions. Zmuda also told one that I had heard before and forgotten, but which should have been in the movie. Tony Clifton did one show where he made people love him at first, and even brought out his adorable 12 year old daughter to sing with him. Kaufman-as-Clifton spend about 30 minutes of totally non-funny non-obnoxious singing and storytelling in order to set up the bit. Clifton let down his guard, acted vulnerable, and was really being loving to the girl and the audience. He had the audience completely in the palm of his hand. Then, in a duet, the kid flubbed a few lines. Clifton first abused her verbally, then slapped her around viciously, to the complete horror of the audience. |

RDO's project this week is
"The Crossing Guard", a project written and
directed by Sean Penn, and starring Jack Nicholson.
Despite some unpleasant public shenanigans, Sean Penn is
an interesting and sensitive guy, and I've always felt he
will someday be regarded as a great director when he
finally clicks with exactly the right material for his
sensibilities. He did a fine job directing this film, and
he evoked some outstanding performances from his cast. He
has the great director's gift of knowing when to ditch
the artifice and become invisible when an actor has the
moment under control. Unfortunately, he hired himself as
screenwriter, and he still has a long way to go in that
regard. I think I've written before that this movie may
have the single most unbelievable plot twist in the
history of filmdom, even more improbable than the
notorious Snipes/Kinski coincidence in "One Night
Stand". Luckily for us, the Nicholson character
likes strippers, and the film features nudity from Kari
Wuhrer, Priscilla Barnes, and an unknown. Priscilla Barnes (#1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 #8) Kari Wuhrer (#1 #2 #3 #4) Somebody else, perhaps related to The Human Torch

Ever wonder what the Playboy,
Page Three, and other softcore models do when not
modeling for Playboy or the British tabs? Fred does.
Fred, or as he is known in the ancient Elventongue,
"Frodo", specializes in "outing" the
harder action from these ostensibly wholesome girls. His
comments: "Penthouse Pet Mason Marconi's unidentified friend in Friday's edition was Stripper and Magazine Model, Lexie Lovar. Lexie is also a Hot Body Video favorite. Mason has done a couple of Purrfect Productions videos. Cave Dweller and a couple of other folks have done mpegs of her XXX adventures. That first photo in yesterday's post identified as Teresa May seems to be Chrissy Molnar, Co-host of "Night Calls" on Playboy TV UK. Here's a pic for comparison. The rest of these pics are British Model and more, Teresa May. Scoop's note: Molnar definitely looks like the same woman. To non-members: Fred is referring to some Stone Cold scans in the members' area. Stone Cold posted about 40 in the past three days, and noted that his two pictures of May ("Smack My Bitch Up") were obviously two different women, but he had no further info. These are the two different women. |
