Mr. Roosevelt is a comedy about Emily (Noël Wells, also writer/director of movie) who is a struggling comedian in Los Angeles despite having a wildly viral video on YouTube. When she gets a phone call from her ex Eric (Nick Thune) about the imminent death of their cat Mr. Roosevelt, Emily rushes back home to Austin. In Austin, she stays at Eric's place with his new girlfriend Celeste (Britt Lower), a perpetually optimistic person who rules over Eric's life and right from the start Emily and Celeste do not get along. While in town, she catches up with Jen (Daniella Pineda), a woman she once met at a party and barely knows, but she is friendly to Emily and they hang out a few times. But the time away from Austin has Emily more alone than ever and there are still lingering issues from her relationship with Eric and maybe still a spark that she has to confront, all before Mr. Roosevelt's funeral. OK indie comedy with a few good laughs but plays more like a 'dramedy' than a comedy movie, which is pretty much the norm for these types of movies. Noël is quite good here and I swear I've seen her before in some other thing but I don't seem to have seen anything else in her filmography.
