"Different Strokes"

Different Strokes (1997) is billed as a Romance Drama, but is really more of a soft core. Dana Plato is a lesbian ad exec from New York, who comes to California to shoot with a local hot photographer for a lingerie catalogue. The photographer is a womanizer, but in a steady but non-committed relationship with Landon Hall. His associate and best friend is a gay man. During the course of the film, Plato's girlfriend in New York dumps her, the photographer terminally irritates Hall, and Plato and Hall become lovers.

Both women show breasts and buns, and Plato's character has a very distant full frontal getting into the pool nude, but it is hard to even tell that it is a woman. Hall also shows breasts and buns. Plato's girlfriend and her new lover also show breasts, as does one of the models, whom the photographer nails when Hall dumps him.

IMDB readers have this at 3.2 of 10. The acting left something to be desired, the photographer character was a complete MCP stereotype, and the message of the film seemed to be that only gay people were ok. The DVD is a poor quality 4/3, but cleaned up ok for the images. Highlights include a skinny dipping scene with Hall and Plato, and a shower with both. This is a C-.

    'Caps and comments by Brainscan:

Second batch o' things from Mummy's Kiss featuring two natural babes today.

Sasha Peralta plays the love interest of the Ava Niche (Lake) in this movie. There are three touchy-feely scenes with them together and then a really long outtake scene. End result is a triple B performance from Sasha.

My favorite, by far, of the nekkid babes in this movie is Nicolette Lupian. She plays one of Sasha's handmaidens and you can see her in the first few collages of Ms. Peralta's. Big eyes, long legs, natural body... what's not to like? But you don't see much of her on the DVD until you hit the outtakes, and there she is dancing for something like ten minutes with the camera moving within a nanometer of her perfect skin. Grabbed, I don't know, maybe fifty frames of her and pulled the best of them together.

Unless Nicolette goes by some other name this is her first appearance on screen. So might I speak for all of you when I say to the makers of B movies with women running 'round nekkid when I say, "Send more Nicolette Lupian!"

    DRACULA PARK MOVED FROM TRANSYLVANIA
They'll Have To Move It At Night - Residents of Sighisoara, Transylvania, are angry after a planned Dracula theme park was moved from their town to the Romanian capital of Bucharest. Sighisoara is the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, inspiration for Dracula. But a feasibility study done for the park's developers by Price Waterhouse Coopers claims that due to easier access and more hotel facilities, the park would draw over a million tourists a year in Bucharest, but only 600,000 in Transylvania.

  • But there are lots of castles in Transylvania that will let tourists stay the night!
  • Transylvania's bloodsuckers are no match for real estate developers.
  • Besides, in Transylvania, it would have to close by sundown.
  • Moving it is gonna be a pain in the neck.
  • The Translyvanians refuse to give up! Their motto is "Don't Get Mad! Get Vlad!"

FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: PIRATE DVD'S AND BAD ACTORS
I Bet It Was Winona Ryder's Copy - Thousands of high-quality pirate DVDs of "Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" are flooding the market. This wasn't recorded with a camera off a movie screen: it's a digital copy of a promo-only DVD sent to an unknown member of the Motion Picture Academy for Oscar voting. Every 15 minutes, the words "For Your Consideration" appear on screen.

  • So it appears on screen about 100 times.
  • Anyone who can put up with Gollum will not be annoyed by this.
  • The producers never imagined that "Lord of the Rings" fans would be technically adept enough to copy a DVD!

The Sum Of All Payola - Entertainment Weekly listed a few unlikely "For Your Consideration" ads that studios are running purely to stroke their stars' egos. Revolution Studios suggests Vin Diesel's "XXX" for a Best Picture Oscar. Paramount promotes Ben Affleck for Best Actor in "The Sum of All Fears." Alas, Paramount's ads did not help Matthew Lillard snag a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for playing Shaggy in "Scooby-Doo."

  • The voters decided Jack Nicholson in "About Schmidt" was a lot shaggier.
  • Somebody at Paramount's been smoking more pot than Shaggy.
  • He wasn't even the "Best Actor Who Co-Starred With A Wisecracking, Computer-Generated Animal."
  • How about J-Lo for Best Actress, for saying she'll stay with Ben Affleck until death do they part?
