  • From RDO, one of the most prolific and talented vidcappers in the trade, here is an assortment from "Ripper" (aka "Fear City" aka "Border"). Melanie Griffith hit the nudity perfecta in 1984, with Fear City and Body Double back-to-back. And she looked great then. In all of these she is stripping on stage.

  • Well, we have a different vidcapper, and a different movie, but it's still 1984, and it's still Melanie Griffith. Coincidentally, The Realist did Body Double while RDO was working on Fear City. Here's Mel again, this time in the dark wig, stripping in front of the window. I guess your Melanie collection will expand today

  • two other women had clear nude scenes in "Body Double" (Deborah Shelton stayed dressed (!!!),and several others were in the Holly video, but the quality is mediocre). Here's Barbara Crampton as Wasson's unfaithful wife. This is a pretty darned entertaining movie. Elegant sets and showbusiness inside jokes, coupled with sensuality and mystery - not a bad combo. It's not a remake or anything, but director De Palma incorporated certain elements to stand as an homage to Rear Window, a classic from his own directing idol, Alfred Hitchcock.
  • And here's professional body double Linda Shaw, who took on the challenging role of professional body double Linda Shaw. Usually unknowns don't get to play themselves. The most common type of person to play him or herself is someone who used to be famous, and whose former fame provides a comical edge to the piece (Robert Goulet and Pia Zadora), or someone who is a non-actor performing the same role in the movie as he would if the story really happened, or performing a parody of his role. This latter group normally involves news and sportscasters or athletes and politicos with a bit of ham in them and/or a sense of humor. Bob Costas is a good example. I guess there's a third category: showbiz legends that people will only accept as themselves, like Tom Jones and Wayne Newton. Linda Shaw doesn't really fit into any of these categories. Director Brian de Palma just decided to let her win one for body doubles everywhere.

  • Emily Proctor. We've discussed this before. The ones above appear to represent Emily's real breasts. This group is not the same chest. I don't think she could have had a boob job during filming, because this kind of movie is made on a very short schedule that would make that difficult. That seems to leave digital enhancement as the explanation. Well, that's probably the "how", but what is the "why"?

  • You guys know how much I admire it when these vidcappers show a little imagination. I mean, I love Cameron Diaz, but we've now seen every frame of "Something about Mary" about 1,100 times from every guy in the world with so much as a Snappy. Therefore, I am overjoyed to see a guy vidcap Soledad Miranda in "100 Rifles" (which was rated PG despite a great look at Soledad's chest)
  • Lescan with one more. Mercedes McNab in "White Wolves 3, the Wrath of Khan". Which reminds me. At my birthday party, we had two of my sons and my daughter, and as so often happens when we gather, the talk turned to movies. We tried to determine the movie with the worst acting of all time, assuming a studio budget and no Spice Girls. There are certain strong contenders. Scoopy Jr holds out for Double Team, with the dream pairing of Van Damme and Rodman (ably backed by Mickey Rourke). His brother and I are squarely in the corner of Star Trek 2, in which Shatner and Montalban go face-to-face, strongly supported by Bones, Scotty and Chekhov. Hard to top that. Got two superstars in their prime, with depth throughout the lineup, like the 1996-97 Bulls. Both choices are kind of cheating, since they include non-native speakers delivering English lines. Poor VanDamme. In my opinion, picking on VanDamme for poor acting is like picking on Dr Steven Hawking for failing to execute the fast break.

    Excluding the foreigners, Kevin Costner probably turned in the single worst leading performance ever by a native English speaker in an English-language movie in "Robin Hood, Prince of Dweebs", but the rest of the cast consisted of competent professionals and ruined any chance for top cast dishonors. Katya's choice would be "McHale's Navy", with Tom Arnold, Tim Curry, and Tommy Chong - also a fine selection.

  • All of the Johnny Web beaver shots come from the new issue of Celebrity Sleuth Magazine. This links to his web site, where he has his own gallery for the current issue. Terrific magazine. The bible of celebrity nudity, with 36% less smiting that the real bible. I have almost every issue he's ever published. Informative, witty, controversial, original, literate .... a very enjoyable read.

  • Sing grabs the top spot again, not for what he found, but this time for what he didn't find. He got a copy of Permanent Midnight, and he made these nice caps of Maria Bello, but guess what he DIDN'T find in that movie ...... ??? The Cheryl Ladd topless scene. This leads us to ask "what was that in Celebrity Skin, posing as Cheryl Ladd in Midnight" Was it a deleted scene? Could it have been Cheryl in a different movie? Or was the entire thing a red herring? The DVD comes out in about 10 days ... will Ladd show up in the deleted scenes? Stay tuned, I guess. Charlie Malloy, a senior editor at Skin, used to drop a line once in a while, but I haven't heard from him in a long time, so I guess we just have to wait it out.

  • When SE7EN sends in some caps, two things are sure. (1) The quality is going to be outstanding. (2) The action is not going to be rated G.   • (Northern)Belgium gets its chance
  • Some of you enjoy variety as much as I do, some prefer the familiar faces. Today we add some new faces to our roster, some a bit obscure by international standards, but interesting to me. The first two women are the co-stars of the Flemish TV series "Recht op Recht". I guess it's kind of like LA LAW except in Antwerp or somewhere like that. I'm sad to report that I haven't been staying abreast of the Flemish soap operas, because they are on opposite Gilligan and wrestling re-runs. This is Veerle Dobbelaere, who is the central character on the show. The actual vidcaps (dark and arty, but visible) are from other sources.

  • The next group is Pascale Michiels, who plays the legal secretary on that series. These actual caps are from a soap opera called "Wittekerke" from a few years back. They aren't really caps. The contributor told me that he photographed the screen and enhanced the photographs with Corel Intellihance. The quality isn't great, as you can imagine, but it isn't that bad either.

  • The third group is Sabine Hagedoren, who is the weather reporter for VRT TV1. This is the Flemish public channel, if you are one of the rare few whose cable op still doesn't pick up the Flemish option. She achieved a measure of notoriety in Belgiun when she went to one of those "beauty farms" with a photographer, and reported back on her experiences. Here she swims naked.

  • Three from the Realist this week. Here's Lisa Boyle in that timeless screen classic, "I like to Play Games". This was actually a perfect model of soft-core porn. First, it had a tiny bit of plot to justify the context of the sex scenes. Second, the sex scenes were shot in clear focus and good lighting on good film stock. That doesn't make it a Kubrick film, but it is a much better film than it would have been without those qualities. For its limited aspirations, it isn't bad
