Nina
Forever
(2015)
Nina
Forever is a black comedy
where Holly (Abigail
Hardingham), a 19 year-old
studying to be a paramedic
who works at a supermarket
takes a liking to Rob
(Cian Barry) after she
finds out that he tried to
commit suicide after the
death of his girlfriend
Nina (Fiona
O'Shaughnessy). After she
helps him with one of his
wounds, they start going
out and one thing leads to
another and they have sex.
Which is fine but during
sex, the reanimated corpse
of Nina appears on the bed
next to them. This freaks
them the both of them out,
naturally and Holly leaves
in a hurry. However, this
does not dissuade Holly
from being with Rob, so
they give it another go
and yet again during sex,
Nina appears but instead
of freaking out, they
decide to include her into
the action as this might
help with Rob's healing,
although that doesn't go
as well as can be. They
continue their
relationship and Nina
continue to appear during
sex, no matter what and
where they try and even
when they move in together
Nina continues to appear
and leave a bloody mess
behind. How are they
finally going to rid Nina
from their relationship?
Interesting attempt at
literalising an inner
problem, not wholly
successful or clearly
explained, but not without
a weird charm. It probably
isn't helped that Nina is
mostly an irritant
throughout the movie,
which is her point. The
humour is very pitch black
so it's not your typical
horror comedy which it
seems to be billed as, but
there are some laughs
mainly at the ludicrous
situation. Nina Forever is
an OK movie that won't be
to everyone's liking.)

Hardingham collages)
