A quick update from a new Australian movie.

Bafflingly, Rage is a 143 minutes long (one of the longest Australian films ever by my reckoning), an incredibly long revenge thriller about a couple who are rocked by a home invasion gone wrong where the wife (Hayley Beveridge) was raped, her sister murdered and the husband, who bashes one of the home invaders to death, gets shot multiple times and miraculously survives a 39-day coma. The cops (led by a character played by Richard Norton) are clueless, the wife refuses to speak to anyone including her husband despite seeing her rapist, and the husband gets itchy for revenge. After a while, the wife spots someone who she thinks was her rapist and the husband sets in motion a plan to kill the man but it doesn't quite go to plan and then things get worse.

No idea why this movie had to be almost two and half hours, not a lot happens for a long time in the movie before it all comes together in the last half hour. There's a sub-plot which introduces a character who comes in and out of the movie only to set-up another guy he doesn't like and set-up a red herring. There's stuff with a psychiatrist (Tottie Goldsmith) who just happens to be married to the lead cop that goes nowhere. And then the ending is pulled out-of-nowhere, which sorta works well put there's an awful lot of set up needed to get there. The movie isn't bad but it surely could have been done in under two hours.
