"The Devil's Advocate"
Devil's Advocate (1997) is a magnificently filmed movie that I did early in my capping efforts, and decided to do properly. As a refresher, it stars Keanu Reeves as a bright young attorney, Charlize Theron as his wife, and Al Pacino in a stellar performance as Satan. While it got a little wordy near the end, it is a terrific film. IMDB readers score it 7.0 of 10, and critics mostly agree that it is a good film (86% positive at Rotten Tomatoes).
Charlize Theron and Connie Nielsen show all three Bs, and Tamara Tunie shows her breasts. I give this a high B-.

"Heaven's Gate"
Heaven's Gate (1980), as most of you will remember, was Michael Cimino's $44m dollar flop that grossed $1.5m, and brought about the demise of United Artists. True to the nature of the film, I did rather lackluster images a couple of years ago, and received a request to try again. It is not easy material to work with, as it is often dark, tinted, and full of color noise and grain, not to mention all of the dust added for western realism. The results this time are much better. Again, for those who don't remember, Isabelle Huppert runs around naked for the last 2/3 of the film. I can't give this film less than a C- for several reasons. First, the photography is stunning. Second, it is of real historical importance. Third, they did achieve the look of the old west. Fourth, the exposure is very good. Don't watch it for plot, pace, or direction, but it is worth seeing once.

UPDATES:
There is a new Encyclopedia volume for Isabelle Huppert. She has done nudity
in at least 17 movies, 13 of them by the time she was 28. (Elodie Bouchez has
matched the latter achievement.) Huppert did a nude scene as recently as 1998,
past her 43rd birthday. About two dozen of the Huppert images have never
appeared in the Fun House.
There is also a new encyclopedia volume for Deborah Shelton.
Deb is another
one of those actresses whose birthday is a moveable feast. After winning
Miss USA in 1970, she finished as first runner-up in the 1970 Miss Universe
Pageant. She was 21 then, so that would make her birthday November, 1948. She
graduated from high school in June, 1966, also making her probable birthday
November, 1948 (possibly even November 1947, thus graduating at 18). Amazingly,
her birthday has now migrated to the 1952 range, so it looks like four years
have been shaved, possibly five. Better still, she was first runner-up to Miss
World USA in 1968, so she is now claiming that happened when she was 15!! Like
Mimi Rogers, she would have to have graduated from high school at 13, and
finished 8th grade at age 9, making her only slightly ahead of Mozart in rapid
childhood development.
There are new encyclopedia volumes for Elisabeth Shue,
Laura Linney,
and that noted existential philosopher, Jordan
(aka Katie Price). I'd like to hear a conversation between those three.
Linney's father is a playwright. She graduated from Brown, and then from
Julliard. Shue graduated from Harvard after transferring from Vassar. Jordan
once attended a school of fish.
There is a new encyclopedia volume for Charlize Theron. I was surprised to see that
Charlize is still only 26 years old, although it seems like she has been around
forever and has starred in every movie Miramax has ever made. She debuted in 1996!
The Rosanna Arquette, Jennifer Connelly, Helena Bonham
Carter, Virginie Ledoyen, Sheryl Lee, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and
Charlotte Rampling volumes are updated. When all the smoke has cleared,
Ledoyen may end up at the very top of the heap. She's already done nude scenes
in ten different movies. Oh, I know that doesn't sound that impressive - until
you realize that she just turned 25!
