"Reindeer Games"

Reindeer Games (2000) Directors Cut. When the film was originally screened before a test audience, they thought it was far too violent, and had too much nudity. A few weak points in the story were also pointed out. Rather than release the film in December as originally planned, director John Frankenheimer agreed willingly to do significant reshooting, and to cut much of the violence and sex. The remade film was a box office failure, returning $23.4m gross against a $36m budget. In retrospect, Frankenheimer, while agreeing that some of the reshoot material helped the story, believes that softening the film was a huge mistake. I could have told him that. He set out to make a really edgy crime thriller, and had a great suspense story line going in. The cuts totally changed the nature of the film.

The director's cut version restores all of the deleted violence, and some of the sex. However, there was an NC-17 version that they elected not to put on the DVD this time either. Two cell-mates, Ben Affleck and James Frain are due for release. Affleck sees Frain knifed, and decides to meet the penpal sweetheart, Charlize Theron, that his roommate was to meet upon release, and pretend to be his friend. Things go swimmingly until Theron's brother, Gary Sinise, breaks in, and forces Affleck to help him with a casino heist.

We see Theron showing buns and breasts in an extended sex scene near the beginning, and see her breasts in clear light in a swimming pool scene near the end. The theatrical version is rated 5.5 of 10 at IMDB. This version would probably weigh in several decimals higher. I will give it a C+ for several reasons. The story line is totally logical, but with many surprise twists, the acting is great, the action is really edgy, and the film sets and maintains a mood throughout.

    BOOKS:

What no movies? Nope, not a one. There will be some good new releases later on this week. Today, I looked at Sante D'Orazio's new book, which is simply called "Photographs". Sante loves the effects caused by shadows, which makes his photographs evocative and engaging, moody and passionate, but not especially easy to scan. I just had to get this picture of Meg Ryan, however, because (1) how often does Meg walk around with a breast exposed (2) it is an absolutely beautiful photograph (3) Meg looks great (4) I like Meg. Does that represent enough reasons? While I was there, I did a few more, and I guess I'll keep going with them from time to time.

    UPDATES:

    • There are new Encyclopedia volumes for a trio of Parkers: Mary-Louise, Sarah Jessica, and Molly. The Gwyneth Paltrow volume is also updated.

    SPECIAL NOTE TO MONTHLY MEMBERS:

I know a lot of people get addicted to a daily visit to the Fun House. People write me who have not missed an issue since 1995 or 1996. Guys on the road tell me that it's their favorite part of the day when they surf it from their hotel room after work. Guys at their desks tell me they read it every morning with their morning coffee. We are flattered and pleased to have such a community behind us, but I also know that $39.95 per month is pretty steep for a permanent membership. I just want to remind any of you on the $39.95 deal that there is a better rate available for long-termers, on a non-recurring six-month membership ($99.95), which cuts the cost of the site down below $17 per month - a substantial reduction. You can sign up for it at http://www.scoopy.net/encyclopedia.htm.

Only one thing - don't sign up while you still have an active membership, or you will get billed for both. Sign up after your old one expires.

Some scans to start with. Some non-nude pictures of Kimberley Davies from a local men's magazine. She is well known in Australia as a soapie actress.
    • Kimberley Davies (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

    "Ihaka - Blunt Instrument"
Ihaka - Blunt Instrument is an Australasian film that looks like it was going to be TV series that didn't quite make it. Ihaka is the police detective and the lead actor. The nudity comes from two unidentified groupies.

    • Unknowns (1, 2)

    "Going Sane"
You see Anne Semler's super-sized bazookas in Going Sane - and that's about all she does in the film.

    "Mr Accident"
Concluding the Australian theme, we have some excellent cleavage and an upskirt by Helen Dallimore in Mr Accident.

    "California Casanova"
California Casanova stars Audrey Landers as a wanna be entertainer. Audrey gets naked but this is only a tease. The nudity comes from Michelle Johnston and an unknown actress who both give a private striptease.

    "Passion of Mind"
Some silicone-enhanced pokies by Demi Moore in the mediocre .

    "Blood Money"
Some brief topless nudity by Jenya Lano in Blood Money. There's also some interesting viewing of a few vaudeville dancers.

    "Eisenstein"
Adriana Martinez was in the arty-farty Eisenstein, the story of the Russian-born director's life. She appeared topless for about 10 seconds, said nothing, but still managed to make it into the credits.

    "Perilous"
Perilous stars Catherine Oxenberg. She gets naked, but this time she is more discrete and nothing can be seen. The good dose of topless nudity comes from Rona Waddington.

    "Porno Film"
Porno Film is a Slovenian movie about a group of friends who want to make the first Slovenian porno film. Natalia Danilova is a Russian prostitute hired to star in the movie. No nudity but she wears a thong nicely.

"The Sleepwalker - Memories from the Future"
The Sleepwalker - Memories from the Future is an Argentinian movie. Sofia Viruboff is topless although, as you can see. the view is not too good and she has some sort of mark over her right breast. Whether it's make-up or real I have no idea.

    "Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise"
Katy Cavanagh is a part-time stripper in the British film Vacuuming Completely Nude in Paradise. She's giving her school-girl show in these caps. The film's quality seemed amateurish but I think that is the look the director was trying to achieve. The movie is about vacuum cleaner salesmen and the title comes from the ultimate desire of one of them to vacuum completely nude in paradise.

    • Katy Cavanagh (1, 2, 3, 4)

    "Bad Girls"
Natacha Amal gets completely nude, briefly, in the French film Bad Girls (aka Voyous Voyelles)

    • Natacha Amal (1, 2)

    "Seduced by a Thief"
Some brief topless nudity by Sean Young in Seduced by a Thief. Dana Barron shows some pokies, as does another unidentified actress. I think her name is in the credits but I couldn't work out which one as she is not identified in the movie.

    ICMS
Here are 4 collages from the 1974 Italian movie "Lucrezia Giovane" which aired in the middle of the night on Rete 4, one of Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi's TV-stations. It's one of those light-hearted 1970's films with a historical background, but the main purpose of this flick was probably to get Simonetta Stefanelli naked on various occasions. After all Simonetta played the role of Michael Corleone's first wife in "The Godfather".

This films relates the story of the young Lucrezia Borgia at the end of the 15th century. I saw some strange things happen in this movie. Lucrezia was already married but for political purposes she was to marry Alphonse of Aragon. Therefore her (catholic) marriage had to be annulled and how does one achieve that? Well, you claim your husband is impotent and that the marriage was never consummated. And how does one prove that? Well, you have your husband brought in in a room with the bishop and other dignitaries, you put him on a bed and let two beautiful women have a go at him. The guy can't perform in public or because he doesn't feel anything for these women, so he is impotent. Voilà, one catholic marriage annulled.

Also odd was the consummation of her second marriage to Alphonse of Aragon. The marriage was consummated in public in the presence of a whole bunch of dignitaries! I don't know whether this is historically accurate, but it certainly raised my eyebrows. I'll have to do a bit of research on that but it's probably true. Didn't French queens use to give birth in public so everybody could see that the child was theirs?

    • Simonetta Stefanelli Link # 1 shows us Lucrezia somewhat cozy with her father, the Pope.

    • Simonetta Stefanelli Links # 2 and 3 show us Lucrezia frolicking in a river with her servant girls while she awaits her fiancé Alphonse of Aragon. (1, 2)

    • Simonetta Stefanelli Link # 4: top left : Lucrezia in bed with a servant. top right and bottom left : wedding night with Alphonse ; the text reads : SPOLETO : on July 21, 1498 Lucrezia Borgia Lanzol was married to Alphonse of Aragon, duke of Quadrata and Bisceglie. The wedding was consummated publicly. Center and bottom right : after her jealous brother has Alphonse killed, Lucrezia returns to him to do what she always has liked to with him (and others).

Helena Bonham Carter Topless in one of her early movies...from 1989's "Getting It Right".

Alex Meneses Very nice topless and rear nudity from the movie "Amanda and the Alien".

Johanna Quintero Lovely full frontal nudity in scenes from "The Apostate".

Bridget White Showing all 3 B's, also from "The Apostate".

Julie Strain Full frontal nudity in scenes from the amazingly bad "Red Line"(1996). Scoop's review tells us just how bad. But you can also sum up the quality with the either of the following sentences:
  • Corey Feldman plays a mobster, and has a sex scene with Julie Strain.
  • Starring Michael Madsen, Dom DeLuise, Julie Strain, Roxana Zal, Chad McQueen and Jan-Michael Vincent.

  • Roxana Zal Also topless in "Red Line". I reviewed this one myself and included a few pics of Zal, Strain, and of course the Evil Corey Feldman which I think are worth seeing for the silliness factor. (see the 7/5/01 edition of the back issues)

    Stephanie McMahon
    (1, 2)

From WWF Raw...Triple H pulls down her pants, and we get to see a bit of bum.

    Sean Young

    Sarah Crawford

Excellent collages by Dann of the two ladies both going topless in scenes from "Control". Sean Young also shows her bum in a thong, and I give her full credit for staying in great shape over the years...even though she is a tad on the nutty side.

    Anne Archer
    (1, 2)

Anne looking great in her undies (plus a very nice upskirt in #2) from "Fatal Attraction" by CV.

New to us near nudity from an episode of "The Outer Limits".

Rebecca Romijn-Stamos: I Experimented With Lesbianism

Married X-Men actress Rebecca Romijn-Stamos has enjoyed several lesbian relationships - to cure her sexual curiosity. The stunning 29-year-old star, wed to hunky actor John Stamos, made the admission when describingher steamy lesbian scenes in new movie Femme Fatale. She says, "In my twenties, I wondered whether I was interested women - so I did my homework!" And the Californian's research served her well for her new movie- which features "pretty graphic" sex scenes - as she got to pick her female partner herself. She explains, "It was supposed to be me and a model. "Rie, the new Gucci girl, is a really good friend of mine so I asked the director if he'd audition her, and she got the part."

    Scoop,
Deafbeer commented on Samantha Mumba’s costume in "The Time Machine". I saw the film with a friend of mine who worked on the project during some phases of filming. Unfortunately, she wore a body suit under the costume. But, there were moments when you could swear she didn’t!

  • Barbie a lesbian? Mattel denies, sues.

Mattel Toys has obtained a court order to bar an Argentinean movie called "Barbie Gets Sad" from being shown at a Mexico City film festival. The movie depicts Barbie as a lesbian, and Mattel claims it's pornographic. The makers insisted that it's a work of art and said it had even been shown on TV in Argentina and Brazil without any scandal.
    ------------
But isn't it Mattel's fault? Barbie would never have gone lesbian if Ken was... um .. anatomically correct.
