Sunlight,
Jr.
(2013)
Sunlight Jr. is a drama
about Melissa (Naomi
Watts) and Richie (Matt
Dillon), a struggling
couple who are living
off Melissa's wage from
her job at a convenience
store in Florida. It
doesn't help that Richie
is disabled and
Melissa's boss is an
arsehole looking for any
excuse to fire her. And
then there's her ex
Justin (Norman Reedus),
who is becoming a pain
in their arse again now
the protection order is
up. When Melissa becomes
pregnant, everything is
looking up for the
couple, but soon enough,
an issue with the
pregnancy and a change
in Melissa's work
schedule begin series of
events that will brings
their money issues and
eventually their
relationship to its
knees. An OK although
very depressing look at
the problems of the
poverty stricken in
America, helped along by
two very good
performances from Watts
and Dillon. Also some
surprisingly good nudity
from Naomi Watts, which
was an unexpected bonus.
