TV Round-Up
The BBC made the first broadcast of Women in Love, part 2. These are not in HD,
because BBC's modus operandi is to air the standard premiere on Thursday and the
HD premiere on Sunday. Not sure why.
Anyway, I didn't watch it, but DeepatSea was on the job, as usual, with the
clips (sample below each).

Strange Vintage Clip o' the Day
In 1971, a year before Deep Throat, Linda Lovelace did a sex scene with a German
Shepherd. No, I don't mean some alpine guy wearing lederhosen, but the Rin-Tin-Tin
kind of German Shepherd. I'm not making this up. Although it was filmed on 16 mm
(poorly), it even has an IMDb
page.
The dog's name was Norman, if you are wondering. Not really a very doggie name,
or a very German one. Shouldn't he be named Herr Hund or Dieter or something?
Anyway, we always go for the classy stuff. We've featured Andrei Rublev,
Schindler's List, Grand Illusion, and now yet another poignant film classic, Dog
Fucker.
Here's that great icon of cinema,
Norman, in his greatest ... er ... pawformance with porn legend Linda Lovelace.

And now for something completely different:
Brainscan's comments:
Here are a few collages of Katrina Bowden and one of Jane Krakowski, all
from the first season of 30 Rock. Katrina's role as a slutty-dressing intern
gets her to wear some wonderfully skimpy clothes. In the pilot episode her
uber-short skirt had her give up exactly three frames of an unintentional
upskirt. The best one is what I sent along. And then about five episodes into
season 1 Katrina's dressing style becomes a plot point. Lots of semi-revealing
clothes, most of which are in one collage or another.
Jane Krakowski plays a not too gracefully aging actress who is a legend in her
own mind. Cleavage here and there, but one song and dance number stands out
for just how close Jane came to giving up the goodies.
Started watching season 5 the other day and just turned off the TV. We get it
- Tina Fey's character is a loser, perpetually at the end of her rope and Alec
Baldwin loves her and she loves him but they would never get together because
the show would have to end and whataya say you just go ahead and have them
plow one another so all of you can move on? Me? I'm out.

Pelican Blood
(2010)
Johnny's comments:
Pelican Blood is the latest in the growing genre
of suicide dramas that have escalated in number in recent years. Nikko
(Harry Treadaway) and his two friends are obsessive birdwatchers and they
spend most of their leisure time travelling to known sites to spot obscure
birds. Everything is going fine until Stevie (Emma Booth), a pro-animal
radical, re-enters Nikko's life after she escaped to Venezuela following
their tumultuous relationship which ended with Nikko attempting to kill
himself as a part of a pact the two formed. But, it seems all is not well
with Nikko, who is planning to end it all when he spots his 500th species
of bird. As Nikko and Stevie fall in love again, it reopens all the old
wounds. Things come to a head when Nikko shoots and kills an bird egg
stealer which will result in one final sacrifice.
Man, there's a lot of suicide-obsessed dramas
coming out lately. This one has an interesting slant in regards to
birdwatchers, but this film offers nothing all the different in regards to
the obsessive nature of a person, whether it be in regards to their hobby
or the love life. And the ending is just a little too convenient, asking
more questions than it answers.
But, I'll watch Emma Booth in anything, so you
know... Anyway, there should be more stuff of Emma in the coming weeks as
I'm currently working my way through the Underbelly: The Golden Mile
blurays and I'm taking another look at The Shark Net. So watch out for
that in the coming weeks, months, whatever...
