is a thriller about Mark
(Jamie Blackley) who has
it all and looks like
he's going places. But,
things are about to
change when he starts
getting involved with a
woman online. He
develops an online
sexual chat relationship
with Rachel (Jaime
Winstone), but she has
an abusive boyfriend who
is apparently in witness
protection because he
ratted out some gang
mates. The last thing
Rachel says to Mark is
to look after her
younger brother John
(Toby Regbo), who is
getting picked on at
school. The next day,
Rachel turns up dead by
apparent suicide, but
Mark is convinced her
boyfriend killed her.
Over time, he becomes
friends with John as he
becomes more incensed
that the abusive
boyfriend is getting
away with it. Then, Mark
is contacted by a MI5
operative that gives
tidbits of information
about the boyfriend,
which Mark uses to bring
the boyfriend out of
hiding. But, nothing is
what it seems and things
change focus when the
MI5 operative asks him
to do something that
will change his life
forever. There's just
one thing and it's a big
thing...
Based on a true story,
which if really true, is
absolutely bizarre, this
surprisingly engrossing
thriller has a twist
that is truly something.
This is an unsettling
tale of someone who
believes everything on
face value and never
questions any
information he is given
from faceless entities.
The movie shows how easy
it is to manipulate
people online and is
disturbing in how
effective this deception
is with a very simple
starting point.
Definitely not one for
the paranoid...
