Desolation is a thriller where hotel worker Katie (Dominik García-Lorido) meets well-known actor Jay (Brock Kelly) who is shooting a movie in town and after a whirlwind romance, Katie decides to join Jay in Los Angeles. But the building where Jay lives immediately spooks Katie as she sees a little girl haunting the halls along with a lot of little weird things begin to happen and that's not to mention the general riff-raff that inhabits the building. As she adjusts to her new home, Katie traps herself in the apartment, even moreso when Jay leaves town for a few days and that's when things start to go downhill for Katie. She seeks solace in the Jesuit pastor who lives in the building, Father Bill (Raymond J. Barry), but even he is not above an off-colour moment or two. Katie finally leaves to apartment to get a few things but when she comes back, she is attacked and then has a troubling encounter with the police. Katie is about to pack it in but will the building let her out alive..?

Desolation is a movie that should be a stock-standard horror thriller, but it's third act twist adds a surprising element which makes the movie better than it has any right to be. There are also a number of odd moments throughout which add intrigue and interesting. This oddball movie is by no means perfect but is definitely an intriguing twist on the usual haunted building schtick.

Plus some brief nudity from Dominik is a great chaser to her nudity in Magic City.
