LIBERATION, a new play by Bess Wohl, was produced by Roundabout Theatre Company and ran Off-Broadway at the Laura Pels Theatre from January through April 2025. The play tells the story of a group of six women in early 1970s Ohio who form a club to have weekly meetings where they explore their new feminist consciousness; the audience learns which elements of this new movement worked for them and which didn’t.

In the scene that opens Act Two, the women – three years into their club’s existence – stage a meeting in the nude and discuss what they like and dislike about their own bodies.
