I thought of Oscar Wilde as I began to work on Sex in Philippine Cinema 2 because of what he said about second marriages, that they were the triumph of hope over experience.  And since my experience with SPC 1 had been so awfully disappointing, my fondest hope for part 2 was that it would not blow chunks.  It did not… for a while. 

On the positive side of life, SPC 2 has 11 lovely women in various sorts of scenes that someone might call sex. 

The final highlights include Jessa Zaragoza in Masamang Damo (1996)



and Sabrina M. in Kulang ka lang sa lambing (1997),

but there is big difference between the two. Jessa’s scene is shot in the great outdoors with good lighting, but Sabrina’s scene includes the deliberate act of turning off the lights before she and her main man get down to business.  Apparently, people in the Philippines have the same attitude about sex as 1950’s Americans did.
