"Female Chauvinists"

Female Chauvinists (1975) -- Before Something Weird Video discovered sources of original film in good enough condition to remaster top notch DVDs, they sold VHS copies of a huge selection of odd films. Their library includes early exploitation, hygiene films, early porn, off the wall horror, and strange instructional films. They have begun to convert their collection to DVDR. This is one of those films. The quality of the only available master, which is a very used 35 MM work print is not at all good. It is washed out, and full of scratches. However, were it not for them, much of this material would be lost forever. This film comes from that period where soft core was no longer enough. This film already included some hard core action, including Dr. Pepper bottle masturbation with penetration, cunnilingus and fellatio, but they added inserts of male/female penetration lifted from other films to spice it up.

A photographer gets in a battle with some militant women's libers on the street corner, and decides to use his friend Roxanne Brewer to infiltrate their training camp and prove that they are just frustrated dykes. Among the recruits in the training camp are Uschi Digart as a lesbian man-hater who was raped by her father, but wants to get pregnant because having a child is a condition of her father's will. Deborah McGuire, one of the few black women in exploitation, is the one who leads of the gang Dr. Pepper masturbation scene. Candy Samples also appeared, but I was unable to salvage any of her footage. There were also numerous other topless and bottomless women. One of Brewer's male friends decides to infiltrate by pretending to be a deaf mute. The women decide he would be good slave labor, and that he is harmless because he is so simple-minded. It is not long before he is screwing the women, and is eventually made to service them all, one after another.

IMDb does list this, but there aren't enough votes for a rating. This is only for those few who, like me, are fascinated by films of this era. I am not however, alone, as Something Weird is doing very well financially, thank you. This is a C-, due to the condition, but is otherwise a decent example of a crossover exploitation/hard core film.

    "Rabid"

    Rabid (1977) is a David Cronenberg horror film staring the Ivory Soap Girl, Marilyn Chambers. After modeling, and appearing in two real films, she became famous for Behind the Green Door, and appeared in two more adult films before returning to legitimate film in this scream queen role. Unfortunately, she was not much of an actress at this point in her career, and was more of a shriek/whine queen here. She and her boyfriend are in a very serious motorcycle accident. He is only slightly injured, but she is trapped under the burning bike, and has severe wounds. Luckily, she is near a designer plastic surgery clinic, and the head surgeon patches her up using radical new grafting techniques.

    When she regains consciousness, the trouble starts. Seems she has gained a special probe in her arm pit, with which she drinks blood. Her victims contract a rabies-like disease, which they spread to others by biting them, and then die. Soon all of Montreal is under martial law, but nobody realizes who the Typhoid Mary is. Soldiers shoot victims on sight, as they will die anyway, and it is the only way to stop them. Probably the highlight of the film occurs in a mall, where a shoulder opens up on an infected person, and blows Santa away in the process. Chambers shows her breasts frequently through the film.

    IMDb readers have this at 5.9 of 10. Spanish audiences liked the story and the special effects, and it won two awards at a Catalonian film festival. It has also been released under the title Rage. According to the new special edition DVD, Rage is the French language version. I was not impressed wit this film. There is insufficient pace to build any excitement, and there is no suspense, as we know immediately what started the epidemic. Couple that with what I found a very weak performance from Chambers, and this is a film for genre addicts. This is a low C-.

    FYI when I hypercam vids to make the file size smaller I use DivX MPEG-4 Fast-Motion for the video compressor, then I use virtualdub to compress the audio. The properties for the vids says the video codec:  DivX Decoder Filter & audio codec:  Morgan Stream Switcher which I'm not familiar with. When I compress the audio with virtualdub I use MPEG Layer-3.  A friend of mine told me about compressing the audio about (6) mos. ago. Like I said previously, only been capping for a year & a half & I'm no expert. Hopefully this info will help members with the proper codecs for my vids.
     
    When I cap big brother's I use hypercam mostly & sdp & asfrecorder if the set up allows me. I stopped using camtasia cause the file sizes were always too big, could never figure out the process, over my head lol, plus it cost too much to buy in my opinion.

    I made the .wmv versions of each video. The codecs for these: Windows Video V8, Windows Audio 9. The upside of these is that you know the codecs, and they'll play in the Windows Media Player. The downside is that they are slightly larger, and slightly lower quality.

    NETWORK PROMOTES "GIGLI'S" AWFULNESS
    No, I Don't - The Starz Encore TV network bought the rights to air "Gigli," so they're promoting it as the movie that's so bad, "you know you want to see it." Their unique marketing campaign trumpets the film's awfulness, complete with bad review quotes, like, "A rigli, rigli bad movie" -- San Jose Mercury-News, and "Viewers (read: victims) will want to talk and comfort each other afterwards" -- San Francisco Examiner. A spokesman said if they marketed it as a good movie, "our credibility would be shot."

  • If they bought the rights to "Gigli," their credibility is shot anyway.
  • They market bad movies as good all the time, but this time they can't fool anybody.
  • They should air it on Saturday night, and it'll probably be the best thing on TV at the time.


    SWEDEN LAUNCHES CONDOM AMBULANCE
    Isn't It Romantic? - The Swedish Organization for Sex Education is launching a new emergency service to combat pregnancy and STDs: the condom ambulance. Between 4 and 9 p.m., amorous couples who need condoms can have them delivered at a cost lower than a drug store. The ambulance, decorated with a logo of a condom with wings, will rush to the scene with a packet of 10 condoms.

  • If you try to use 10 condoms in one night, you might end up in a real ambulance.
  • They deliver so that nine months later, you won't have to!
  • After 9 p.m., you'll just have to go to the emergency room.

    Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don't - A researcher from Spain's University of Leon reports that moderate beer consumption provides antioxidants that prevent liver cirrhosis.

  • This is sort of like hearing that pie prevents obesity.

    Meanwhile, researchers in Stuttgart, Germany, claim they found traces of N-Nitrosamine, one of the deadliest carcinogens, in 29 of 32 condoms they tested, and it can be released when the rubber comes in contact with bodily fluids.

  • But what are the chances of THAT happening?
  • This gives a new meaning to the term "condom ambulance."
  • So if you want to be healthy, drink lots of beer and never use condoms.
