Junior is moving. I am filling in for the Friday and Saturday pages, and he will return with the Sunday page.

The Best of Charlie's Angels, Season 1 (1976):

My expectations were reasonable going into this project. I expected some kitschy 70's television and a little bit of jiggle. In four of the five episodes, that's all there was, but "Angels in Chains" is an absolute classic which features the three beauties in a women's prison.

1. It actually features Farrah Fawcett's nipple falling out of her blouse for two frames. Before DVD, who would have noticed?

2. In addition to angel jiggle, it also featured jiggle from a fairly attractive guest star that you may have heard of - Kim Basinger.

3. If a guest shot by Basinger isn't enough for you, it must feature every TV and Corman movie actor then available. You'll recognize David Huddleston as a corrupt Southern sheriff, Mary Woronow as the head matron of a women's prison, and Love Boat's Lauren Tewes in a cameo as the client. I thought I saw Christina Hart and Sid Haig wandering around the set as well.

Episode 4: Angels in Chains

Episode 1: Hellride

  • Smith. I'd like to think that is Jaclyn Smith's nipple trying to burst free in Hellride, but that would be too good to be true. Anyway, I can dream. It's hot, whatever it is, and she is way beyond gorgeous and into the realm of supernatural.

Episode 10: Consenting Adults

  • Farrah. Cleavage and pokiosity. Not great lighting, but, hey, it's Farrah.

Extra info:

  • Here's the link to the DVD info from Amazon for the "Best of" disc that I vewed.
  • If "The Best of" is just not angelic enough for you, there is also a DVD set from Amazon with the entire Season 1 of the series! This features 22 episodes, plus the pilot (with Tommy Lee Jones!), plus a featurette, on five discs.
  • And here's a complete episode guide, if you're just an angelmaniac

OTHER CRAP:

Here are the latest movie reviews available at scoopy.com.

  • The yellow asterisks indicate that I wrote the review, and am deluded into thinking it includes humor.
  • If there is a white asterisk, it means that there isn't any significant humor, but I inexplicably determined there might be something else of interest.
  • A blue asterisk indicates the review is written by Tuna (or Lawdog or Junior or C2000 or Realist or ICMS or Mick Locke, or somebody else besides me)
  • If there is no asterisk, I wrote it, but am too ashamed to admit it.

"Freeway"

Freeway (1988) is one of those films that is hard for me to write about, in that it is neither good, nor really bad. It is a rather pedestrian thriller with cliched plot elements and adequate acting. Some of the camera work, however, was rather decent. The film opens with a freeway shooting, and an emergency room nurse, Darlanne Fluegel, does not take the DOA as well as you would expect for a nurse. Seems her husband was killed in a similar shooting, she feels the police are not doing enough, and sees a connection among all the killings that the police don't. She is later joined by an ex cop turned bounty hunter, and a talk radio shrink (Richard Belzer) to figure out whodunnit.

So we have the killer calling a talk show host, the nurse smarter than the entire LAPD, and the ex cop who thinks he can do better than the police. Fluegel has some gratuitous breasts exposure getting into and out of bed, and then does a sex scene with Belzer where someone's arm manages to hide her breasts in every single frame, and not look awkward. IMDB readers rate this 4.8 of 10, which is not far off. The film is too formulaic for the ending to ever be in doubt, but there is enough action to keep you awake and away fro the fast forward button. C-.

  • Hankster

It's a titty movie day for the Hankster today. Our B-babe is Renee Rae playing an undercover cop in "Watchful Eye". We did Renee a few months ago in  another movie and I guess I fell in love.Great bod and she has a more natural, innocent look than most of the actresses of that genre.

Anyway here's Renee giving us a good look at all of her assets. Forgettable movie, bit for me Renee makes it memorable.

    Snowblind
Snowblind is back after a brief absence. His captures from Old School are unique because they issued this in two DVD's, placing the widescreen and the full screen versions on separate discs. Snowblind is the first I've seen with caps from the full screen version. The floor-length shots make some of the scenes sexier, even though they don't actually add nudity.

    Dann

Dann captures Zoe Paul in Frost. His comments:

"Not an exceptional vampire film, but it did have a very interesting plot in 1989 during the Russian-Afghanistan war, a mercenary was bitten by a local "crazy man".  Ten years later, and our merc realizes the crazy guy was really a vampire. He realizes it when he himself turns into a vampire. The job of catching our merc/vamp falls to the ex-captain of the mercenaries. A little different plot, but the acting was mediocre. Still, Zoe Paul is very attractive with a nice body unfortunately most of the nudity is after she's croaked."
