"Immoral Tales" from Tuna
Today I am featuring
another director with four erotic films made in
1974. The director is Walerian Borowczyk who was born in Poland in 1923.
He was trained as a painter, and started his film
career as an animator. He moved to France in the
early 60's and continued with animation, then
started making erotic films. As the quote on his
image shows, he believes in making erotica, and
raised many eyebrows (as well as other body
parts) with the collection of short films called
the Immoral Tales.
The first is set in
modern times, and is called The Tide. A young man
takes his younger female cousin to the beach,
walks her around some cliffs until they are
trapped by the tide. He then convinces her that
what her education needs is to give him head
while he teaches her about tidal action, then
climaxes exactly at high tide.

The second is called
Therese's Philosophy. A young girl stays after
mass to pray, and is late getting home. Her
mother won't accept the truth, and ends up
whipping her and confining her to her room for
four days as punishment with nothing to eat
except zucchini. She begins by praying, then
investigates the room. Finding a hidden erotic
book called Therese's Philosophy, she finds a
great use for raw zucchini.

Next is the most
bizarre. It is called Elisabeth Bathory after the
16th century woman who supposedly bathed in the
blood of virgins. She periodically went on a road
trip and bought young women, then brought them
home for fun and games. This is actually the
highlight of the 4, as it stars Pablo Picasso's
daughter Paloma in her only film appearance. It
also features more young virgins than I could
keep track of (see the Unknowns).
The last is the tale of
Lucrezia Borge and her orgy with her brother the
Cardinal and her father the pope. Note the
artistic use of bird feathers.
