"Mercy"

Mercy (2000) was done by Scoopy before I could get to it, then for the next couple of weeks, it seemed someone else did it just when I was going to, and it got lost in my backlog of films. Since the releases haven't been earth shattering in quantity or quality the last few weeks, I am now well into that backlog.

Scoppy's review is on the Scoopy.Com site, and I agree with pretty much everything he said. The plot barely holds together, and I was often confused about who was whom, and why they were on my screen. On the other hand, the film looked very good, and was chock full of famous women naked. I passed on the corpses, which are all full frontal, as Scoop covered them well (see the back issues), and the unknowns, and concentrated on Ellen Barkin, Peta Wilson and Karen Young. I agree with Scoop's grade of C, but would award lower if it wasn't for the nudity.

  • Ellen Barkin (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
  • Karen Young (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7)
  • Peta Wilson (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

  • Johnny Web (Uncle Scoopy)

The Day of the Jackal  International thriller in the classical tradition. The events in the movie don't always make sense. For example, the police would have caught The Jackal if they had been aware of a little invention I like to call the telephone. Instead of calling up a local police station and telling them to intercept a train from Tulle, keep all passengers inside, and arrest a certain Danish guy, every copper in the main police bureau went racing through traffic, sirens blaring, and arrived too late at the train station. These sorts of "necessary" plot elements were typical in the contrived thrillers of the day. Despite such lapses of logic (more of which are detailed in the main review) and a 140 minute running time, I like this film. The director shot in some great locations and maintained tension, which is what the genre is all about. And he included some naked chicks! The nudity came from two very dark scenes, but I had some luck with the images and managed to make them look pretty good.

    • Delphine Seyrig (1, 2)
    • Olga Georges-Picot (1, 2)
    Uco
    Béatrice Dalle
    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

All three B's in on display in several scenes from "37°2 le matin" aka "Betty Blue" (1986).

    Élodie Bouchez
    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

    French nudity continues...

In links 1-3, Élodie shows breasts and bush in scenes from "J'aimerais pas crever un dimanche" (1998).

In links 4-6, more topless and frontal exposure, but this time in scenes from "Lovers" (1999).

    Virginie Ledoyen
    (1, 2)

Topless in scenes from "En plein coeur" (1998).

    A few notes from Jr...

On a Virginie note...I recently rented her "breakthrough" movie "La Fille seule" ("A Single Girl") (1995). I had read some positive reviews, and thought I would expand my horizons from the usual Skinemax stuff I watch. Good lord is that an over rated piece of art house crap! I've seen better writing, acting, and directing in straight-to-video, Don "The Dragon" Wilson movies!

The director's idea of story telling is basically following Virginie's character with a steady cam. Every scene literally is as follows...

  • Virginie walks somewhere.
  • Virginie and one other person have a quickly spoken, yet monotone conversation (usually about how something sucks. Life, work, whatever)
  • Virginie and the other person smoke cigarettes.
  • Virginie walks somewhere else.

The story is told in "real time", which explains why the camera follows her. But honestly guys, did you have to follow her walking down the hall, standing and waiting for the elevator, getting in the elevator, riding the elevator, getting out of the elevator, walking down another hall, etc. Talk about non-stop excitement! Especially since most of these scenes are shot with very little dialogue, and no music. Now that's what I call entertainment! Watching the back of someone's head walking through a poorly lit hotel with only audible sounds being her footsteps!

As for nudity...there is a little from a scary looking woman who I would have rather not seen naked.

Pay no attention to the critics...this is a very poor movie.

  • Donbun
    Julie Strain
    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

Big Julie showing off her two largest features in scenes from "Battle Queen 2020".

Celia Hart A single exposed breast from "Battle Queen 2020", aka "Millennium Queen" (2000).

Isabella Rossellini Her familiar topless scene from "Blue Velvet" (1986).

    Celeblover
A great collection of 'caps from German TV......

  • Anna Loos, lingerie, bikini, cleavage, naughty nurse outfit, bare breasts, and very nice bum exposure in scenes from "Das sündige Mädchen".

  • Annett Renneberg, pokies and a brief nipple sighting from "Engel sucht Flügel"

  • Carin Tietze, topless in a love scene from "Sommer am Meer".

  • Corinna Harfouch flashing her boobs Mardi Gras style in "Wer anhält stirbt".

  • Inka Viktoria Barel, very nice bikini 'caps from "Schlafender Tiger".

  • Karin Kienzer, a breast peek in scenes from "Unser Charly".

  • Katharina Meinecke, black undies in "Besuch aus Bangkok".

  • Katharina Schüttler nipple sighting in "Tatort: Du hast keine Chance".

  • Kerstin Draeger, poolside toplessness in "Sommer am Meer".

  • Natasha Henstridge, breast exposure, far off, full side view nudity, and maybe a hint of bush in the shadows in scenes from "Bela Donna". DVD might reveal more, but going by the info at the IMDb, I won't hold my breath waiting for it to hit my local video store anytime soon.

  • Sabine Vitua, from "Besuch aus Bangkok". Cleavage and a sex scene with decent breast exposure.

  • and ...
    Penélope Cruz
    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Excellent DVD 'caps by Penman of Penélope in "Abre los ojos" (1997). Her topless scene is 'capped in links 3,4 and 5.

Natasha Richardson Brief breast exposure as she gets it on with Rutger Hauer in scenes from "Past Midnight" (1992) by Hugo. Thankfully, Hugo managed to keep most of Rutger's ever expanding girth out of these frames.

Christina Hendricks Awesome wonderbra cleavage from the Showtime series, "Beggars and Choosers" by Raja. I'm not positive, but I think she did bare her breasts in one episode. If anyone can verify that or has 'caps, let us know.

    Big Celeb News!
Thanks to Pat Reeder at the Comedy Wire for pointing this one out!

    WORTH THE WAIT

EX-"Baywatch" babe Gena Lee Nolin has finally succumbed and posed for Playboy. Nolin, who turned the mag down six times, told Craig Kilborn on his "Late Late Show" she was "not against the nudity, never have been...I wanted the right photographer I felt comfortable with, and I have total photo approval." The December layout will be a whopping 14 pages, Nolin noted, because, "I guess they were happy - they were smiling as much as I was."
