The Signal
2007
I never could make the slightest bit of sense out of this bizarre low-budget
sci-fi/horror film that plays out like Videodrome meets Re-Animator, as told
by James Joyce in the style of Finnegan's Wake.
And I'm not joking. I have absolutely no idea what was going on. It is truly
one of the oddest films I've ever seen.
There is only a tiny bit of non-explicit nudity. Sorry about that. I watched
five R-rated movies today, and not the slightest bit of flesh except this
quick look at Anessa Ramsey pulling on her undies.

Una Noche Con Sabrina Love
(2000)
Una Noche Con Sabrina Love is a coming-of-age comedy about a 17-year-old
living in a small town in Argentina. He wins a write-in contest to spend a
night with his favorite porn star, Sabrina Love (Cecelia Roth), but he has no
way to get to the big city to collect his prize. After jumping off a boat,
then swimming to and scaling a bridge, he hitch-hikes the rest of the way to
Buenos Aires, where we learn that he also hopes to visit his gay brother.
Tomas is told that he has to wait for a few days before his big date with
Sabrina Love. In the interim, he meets an eccentric homeless poet, almost
hooks up with an older woman, gets to know his brother again, and then finally
loses his virginity to the porn star. Somehow, through all of this, he manages
to grow up.
This is a very good coming-of-age film with some humorous moments and some
real insights.

I don't even know what she's doing these days, but
for a while there, in the late 80s and early 90s, she was my favorite naked

Film Clips
I don't know anything about a new film called
The Art of Travel. It's rated high at IMDb, but with only 66
votes. Rotten Tomatoes tells about the same story: only eight
reviews, but five are positive. Variety concluded that the flick had no
commercial potential: "Overacted and overblown, pic will underwhelm commercially,
with theatrical perhaps limited to friends and family."
