"Les Bijoutiers du clair de lune" (1957)

Les Bijoutiers du clair de lune (1957) titled The Night Heaven Fell in English is my find of the week. It features Brigette Bardot, and finally has clear exposure of her. Midway, we get a quick shot of her buns as a robe falls open, then, near the end, we see her breasts in a daylight, outdoor lovemaking session. She is poking through or bulging out of her costumes throughout. After all, this was produced by Vadim to show her off, and he knew how to do that. It is a French love story (unhappy ending, of course) set in Spain. Bardot comes from a convent school to stay with her aunt and uncle. Uncle is a total asshole, and there is a suggestion that a local girl committed suicide because of him. The girls brother, Stephen Boyd, goes with Bardot to the villa to confront the uncle. Bardot is smitten, but the uncle kicks the crap out of Boyd. Boyd returns to talk to the aunt, and has sex with her. When he later starts up with Bardot, and kills the uncle in self defense, the aunt accuses him fo murder, and Bardot and Boyd go on the lamb.

The scenery is great, as is the art direction, and the DVD transfer is a rather nice widescreen, especially for the age of the film. Maltin awards 2 1/2 stars - watchable but not memorable. The photography and art direction compensate somewhat for a trite plot, and the exposure from Bardot makes it worth seeing. C+.

    "Blood Tide" (1982)

Blood Tide (1982) was a request from someone who wanted caps of Lydia Cornell (Too Close for Comfort). She has near exposure in several scenes, including a between the legs shot where her shorts don't cover much. The films also had breasts from Irini Tripkou, good see-through from Deborah Sheldon, and Teases from Mary Louise Weller. The film is a low budget action/horror. Weller and her boyfriend travel to a Greek island to find his sister (Deborah Shelton). They discover that she is buddies with James Earl Jones, who is doing illegal diving looking for historical artifacts. Shelton has made friends in a convent, and is in the process of discovering the same ancient horror as Jones. Jones unleashes the monster.

I agree with Maltin, who comments that the Greek scenery is lovely, but the plot was a waste of a good cast. He awards 1 1/2 stars. IMDB readers say 5.8/10, based on 6 votes. The DVD is made from a horrible master, and is way oversaturated and way too bright. D+.

An American Werewolf in London had a simple concept and complex F/X to show what would happen if lycantropy struck a couple of fun-loving Yanks backpacking through England. Kind of a return to the Abbott and Costello school of horror. Fun to watch.

No problem with the image quality here. One of the best photographed films of the past two years, The Widow of Saint-Pierre is exquisitely beautiful, morally complex, dashingly honorable, faithfully 19th century, and unbearably sad. An exercise in the lachrymose school of European cinema.

Of course, I prefer fart jokes and silly voices, so when I finished with this film I had to watch Joe Dirt and Little Nicky to cleanse my palate.

    Graphic Response
  • Catherine Deneuve, still looking pretty darn good at age 50 something in this brief topless scene from "Pola X".

  • Reese Witherspoon...well, her stunt butt anyway. Reese was a tad too young to shed her clothes for the camera in her screen debut, "The Man in the Moon" (1991).

    "Love in the 21st Century"
Love in the 21st Century was a series of half hour shows that we saw as one program. Unfortunately, this meant we didn't get the proper credits and I'm relying on the IMDB to help identify the actresses. The stories reminded me of an updated Love American Style, which was a TV show from a few decades ago.

The first story starred Catherine McCormack collecting sperm samples in order to impregnate herself. Kate Ashfield and Marsha Thomason fought over the same bloke. Clare Holman was a teacher that had a fling with one of her students and Tracy Whitwell wanted to act out her fantasies. Daniela Nardini had some wedding problems. Clare, Kate and Marsha are the only caps with nudity.

    "Touched by a Killer"
Isabella Hofmann is a journalist in Touched by a Killer, where she tries to reform the legal system. Some dark exposure and a nice silhouette.

    "The Boondock Saints"
Jeanna Fine is probably better known for more explicit movies than The Boondock Saints. It's a gory film with a lot of bodies and blood. Jeanna plays a peepshow stripper and you get a good look at what silicone can do.

    "Borderline Normal"
No real exposure by Caterina Scorscone in Borderline Normal, just some terrific pokies. Life was never like that at my school!

  • Caterina Scorscone (1, 2)

    "Treasure of the Yankee Zephyr"
Some see-through exposure by Lesley Ann Warren in Treasure of the Yankee Zephyr. Unfortunately, the original film's picture quality wasn't that good, nor was the film itself.

  • Lesley Ann Warren

    "Summertree"
There was some nice breast exposure by Brenda Vaccaro in the soppy movie Summertree.

  • Brenda Vaccaro (1, 2)

    "Mona Lisa"
Mona Lisa is the story of a high-class prostitute in London, played by Cathy Tyson. Some nice caps of Cathy after an interrupted S & M session. The brief exposure is by Helen Martin who plays a peep show dancer.

    "The Seekers"
The Seekers is the story of a group of settlers in the mid 19th century trying to set up a colony in New Zealand. Laya Raki is the daughter of the local Maori chief and goes swimming, nude of course. When she gets out of the water she shows two of the biggest aureole I've ever seen. So big that I wondered whether they are patches, but the side views seen to indicate that they are real.

  • Laya Raki (1, 2, 3)

    "200 Cigarettes"
Courtney Love almost has sex in a toilet cubicle in 200 Cigarettes. Seems appropriate. No nudity, we weren't that lucky,

  • Courtney Love

    "Memories of Me"
No nudity by Jobeth Williams in Memories of Me, just some lovely pokies.

  • Jo Beth Williams (1, 2)

    "Terror Firmer"
Keeping the best for last, Terror Firmer is the most gory of the Troma films I've seen and has plenty of blood, guts and bodies. It's the story of a transvestite serial killer, the female part is played by Sheri Wenden (you have to see the movie to understand what I mean). No exposure by Sheri, the exposure is by just about everybody else. Debbie Rochon plays the lead role of a film being made by the Troma team, and that includes having sex with the Toxic Avenger (another Troma monstrosity). Alyce Latourelle is (I think) the stage manager and Ileana Romero is there to show off all her body when having a little bit of oral sex. There are lot of other undressed women who I couldn't immediately identify as I would then have to watch the movie again. Troma doesn't make life easy for cappers.

  • Debbie Rochon (1, 2, 3, 4)
  • Alyce Latourelle (1, 2, 3)
  • Sheri Wenden (1, 2)
  • Ileana Romero

  • AJ Langer 'nudity'...the debate continues
More feedback from another Fun House Reader...

The entry on the CNDB for her in People Under The Stairs is bullshit. This guy was apparently watching with x-ray glasses, because her dress in that flick was FAR from 'semi-transparent'. It's a little girl dress, standard white cotton. It's VERY long, so there's no upskirts either.

People Under The Stairs is one of my all-time fave movies, I've probably seen it 40 times. AJ Langer is one of my fave actresses as well, believe me, if she so much as -hinted- at nudity, I'd be all over it. She had some undies shots in Escape from LA, but nothing even remotely revealing. The MOST revealing thing she's done so far was her Lolita stuff in Drexell's Class. Her and Brittany Murphy existed on that series to freak their single dad (Dabney Coleman) out with their 'budding womanhood'. This led to several eps where she'd be wearing one revealing outfit or another. I remember one episode in particular when both sisters go shopping for new swimsuits and come back with three bandaids connected by strings. (Well, you get the idea.) THAT I would like to see a cap of, but good luck...it never even made it to syndication.

    Just my two cents.
