Of course this is not breaking news
This is an obscure episode of an obscure French/British TV show that IMDb barely mentions. It's a truly sappy, underdeveloped 24 minutes of formulaic TV melodrama. So why am I writing about it? It features a topless scene from a very young (21ish) Catherine Zeta Jones. This show would be long forgotten if not for the topless scene from a young Zeta. Oh, what am I talking about? It IS long forgotten, even with that topless scene. It's not even in Zeta's IMDb filmography!

A bit of trivia: according to the credits, the series was produced by Erich Segal, the classics professor who loved to slum in pop culture, and became most famous as the author of Love Story.

How bad is the episode? Follow along with me ...

A wealthy widower welcomes his university-age daughter and three of her friends to his French country estate during her semester break. Dad and daughter obviously have a great relationship, and dad also establishes a good rapport with his daughter's friend (Zeta) and the boyfriends of the two girls. They all visit for a while, then the two young couples head for the Mediterranean in their two separate cars, and dad heads up to sleep.

Dad awakens to the sound of sobbing in his bedroom. It is Zeta-Jones, reporting that the man's daughter has died in an automobile accident. Since the daughter and her boyfriend have been fried to a crisp, there is nothing dad can do. Since Zeta's boyfriend is taking care of the details with the police, the dad does what I think any of us would have done on this somber occasion - he fucks the living daylights out of Zeta-Jones.

Now THAT'S the way to mourn.

The next morning he needs a little more consolation, but Zeta refuses, saying that from now on she will "love him in a different way," which in this case does not mean anal sex, but rather that she will "be his new daughter"!

The film ends with a group hug between dad, Zeta, and Zeta's boyfriend, who looks mighty uncomfortable about the entire thing as the credits roll.

The nudity from The Man with the Iron Heart (2017) in 1080hd

I was disappointed by this movie because of its structure. It's about the famous 1942 assassination of Heydrich, Himmler's right hand man, and one of the primary architects of The Final Solution. The first 40% of the movie is about Heydrich's rise to power. That section ends with the assassination, whereupon the film backtracks to the lives of the resistance fighters who killed him. The final 20% deals with the search for the assassins and the reprisals against them, their families and others, which the Nazis intended as a "lesson" to any others foolish enough to try something similar.

I really found the Nazi portion engrossing, then lost all interest when they abruptly switched to the Czechs playing soccer in Scottish exile. At that point I actually fast-forwarded back to the assassination, skipping the back-story about the Czechs, so I could continue following the story I was interested in. I never did go back to watch the part I skipped. I think it might have worked better if the story had been told in strict chronological order, with both stories pointing toward their climactic intersection, giving each other context along the way.

Just a personal note. Rosamund Pike is a dead ringer for a woman I loved and lost because of my own screw-ups. I don't mean they look kind of alike. More than that. Although they have different bodies, they have exactly the same face, and that's where the camera is most of the time. Moreover, Pike is about the age that woman was when I was involved with her. It is always eerie for me to watch her on screen.
