  • Those of you who asked: Jimmy's nickname is from the movie "Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead". I should write an essay on that movie someday. Never have touched on it, because there is no nudity. Terrific indy film, creative and touching, featuring Andy Garcia as Jimmy the Saint, a reformed mobster drawn in for one last job, which he botches miserably because he has compassion and integrity and loyalty to old friends who simply can't hack it any more. These qualities are unsuitable to successful mobsterhood. The entire movie creates a world that never was. The gangsters don't talk in real slang, but in a special kind of lingo made up just for the movie. The film just has its own special look and feel, as if it existed in one of those parallel dimensions from the comics of long ago. I've never liked Mr. Garcia that much, but I think you'll find him perfect in this role. Enough of that. Here's Emily Woof in "Velvet Goldmine"

  • Glad Stoney and Blinky got on base, because the heavy hitters are coming up. Here's Mr Aesthete batting third, with the Thief of Hearts. Pretty good movie. In fact, this is the favorite movie of a friend of mine who's no dummy. Steven Bauer is a burglar who steals the dialry of a lonely woman in order to worm his way into her life. Great male fantasy. He knows all her innermost wants, likes, etc. The woman is Barbara Williams, and David Caruso even appears briefly. Aesthete got these images really sharp, and this film is not on DVD, so I'm betting these are the best ever from this film. Technically, maybe his best ever as well. You want them all in your collection. Well done, Aesthete!
