Nazi Overlord

Overlord (a JJ Abrams production) was released last week, and it is about Nazi Zombies. This is not that movie, although it is based on the same basic premise, and was released to video four days later (yesterday) with a confusingly similar title. The production company, The Asylum, does things like this. Yeah, it's a rip-off and they do get sued, but they've been doing this for more than a decade and they're still in business.

They have also created some of their own franchises, albeit low-budget ones. (They are the Sharknado people.) According to industry scuttlebutt (and Wikipedia), they have never lost money on a movie.

Getting back to the subject at hand, this knock-off has something the big budget film does not: Dominique "Lolita" Swain naked.

Anonymous 616 is a thriller about a two couples who are having a dinner together with one man about to be shipped off for another tour of duty. They smoke some special weed and the troop begins an online chat with an anonymous user who seems to know everything about him and tempts him to forego all inhibition and do what he always wanted to do. He then terrorizes the other guest and the 12 year-old daughter of his friend's partner.

Supposedly a look at PTSD but is quite an ugly movie that is almost saved by a decent ending but that would mean you'd have to forget how disgusting the movie becomes and the rubbish tricks it uses.

Don't Go is a thriller about a couple who have lost their daughter in a tragic accident that happened after the father was found to be having an affair with his sister-in-law. He starts having the same vivid dream about the daughter and starts to believe he can bring her back from the dead if only he can work out how to escape the dream.

Interesting idea but completely silly in execution.
