Never heard of Desperate Obsession and looked like another turgid 90s TV movie. Well, it opens with a surprisingly lengthy nude sex scene and then turns into one of the most hamfisted, low rent movies I've ever seen. A baffling yet unsurprisingly predictable stalker thriller where a wannabe doctor (Dana Boncristiani) has a stressful day and goes for a run to get it out of her head, only to be shot with a tranquilliser gun and raped although she doesn't know it just yet. She is attacked again which she thinks it just a really hungry mosquito (!) and it's starting to effect her work. Turns out she's pregnant despite not having sex and having no idea she's being raped and makes the decision to end her medical career and have the baby but she decides to give it to her more than willing best friend (April Breneman). Anyway, she has the baby then decides to keep it, annoying the friend but she stays patient. The plot twist is incredibly fucked but it's telegraphed so early in the movie. And the reveal is incredible, the sloppiest villain of all time, they actually leave a vial of semen in the fridge (!) for over a year. The movie is amateurish at best, music constantly drowns out the dialogue, so much so that the subtitles have numerous moments where it just says 'muffled', not helped by one guy with a French accent which is near impossible to pick up at times. There's a bizarre scene where an 'active shooter' (I can't believe I'm typing these words) enters the hospital and it's pure comedy right down to the psycho head doctor who just happens to have a tranquilliser gun to stop him with. Oh and it turns out everyone has a tranq gun for some reason, I'm flummoxed. There's a dream sequence that's impossible to describe, something about dancing flaming skulls raping, I got nothing. And let's not forget the doctor who loves touching women's breasts or the doctor who takes a piss during a surgery. Definitely a contender for the worst film of the 90s...
