"The Hunger"

The Hunger (1983) was Tony Scott's first feature film after a lot of work making commercials, and was an early use of an MTV style of film making. It was also notable for a then eyebrow raising lesbian love scene between Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon. The first 20 minutes are pure Scott, and almost surrealist imagery, but slowly something of a plot develops. Deneuve is centuries old, and feeds on human blood -- the blood hunger. She lives with her current soul mate, David Bowie. Sarandon is a doctor researching the aging process. While Deneuve's soul mates are indeed immortal, at some point in their lives, they begin an accerated aging process that makes up for the several hundred years of no aging. When Bowie starts to age, he seeks Sarandon's help, thinking she might have a cure.

Sarandon ends up being Deneuve's replacement for Bowie. We have clear breasts from Sarandon during the lesbian scene, and breasts from Ann Magnuson in the beginning of the film. Deneuve's character shows headless breasts and buns, but Scott admitted in the commentary that this was a double.

Critics despised it, and the public stayed away in droves. IMDb readers have it at 6.1 of 10. Proff indeed of the fact that it has gained a real cult following. The style is no longer as jarring, as it is commonplace and it does have very strong imagery. The makeup effects were also very good. Although set in Manhattan, it was filmed in London. This is a C as a cult film.

    • "Just for fun, a company called Storeridge Engineering uses powerful electrical bursts to actually shrink coins. This involves putting the currency into a metal coil and then blasting it with more than 100,000 amps. The surge causes the coil to explode violently, leaving a coin that's been compacted at the molecular level. A Kennedy half dollar loses about half its size and gains mysteriously beautiful radial lines. There are even more hilarious results with bimetal coins and coins with a hole in the center, such as Japanese yen. The site has a great explanation and much larger pictures of all this frivolity."

    Words from Scoop.

    .avi's from Shiloh.

.wmv files made by Scoop from Shiloh's .avi's.

NOTE: because of a unique combination of circumstances with the Windows media player and some substantial bandwidth theft, we will have to do all of our movie files in zip format. Left click on the files as you normally would to view a picture. When you get a choice, click on "save", and put it on your hard drive in the directory of your choice. UnZIP and play from there.

I know this is not especially convenient, but it allows the film clips to continue. I can protect .zip files from hot-linking in the same way I can protect still images. For some reason, if I protect .avis and .wmvs from hot-linking, they will not play in the Windows media player, and I can't get a satisfactory work-around. Perhaps I will find a better solution, but for now this new policy allows you to continue getting the movie clips you want to see, which is much preferable to my abandoning the clips altogether.

    Closer (2004)

What else can you say after "Natalie Portman's bare bum"? I suppose this will become the most-capped film in recent history, and will rival The Gift in popularity as a multiple DVD watch for young male audiences.

Perhaps these tips will help if you have trouble with the codecs for these movies:

    Shiloh says:

FYI when I hypercam vids to make the file size smaller I use DivX MPEG-4 Fast-Motion for the video compressor, then I use virtualdub to compress the audio. The properties for the vids says the video codec:  DivX Decoder Filter & audio codec:  Morgan Stream Switcher which I'm not familiar with. When I compress the audio with virtualdub I use MPEG Layer-3.  A friend of mine told me about compressing the audio about (6) mos. ago. Like I said previously, only been capping for a year & a half & I'm no expert. Hopefully this info will help members with the proper codecs for my vids.

When I cap big brother's I use hypercam mostly & sdp & asfrecorder if the set up allows me. I stopped using camtasia cause the file sizes were always too big, could never figure out the process, over my head lol, plus it cost too much to buy in my opinion.

    A reader says:

You mentioned that some users were having trouble with the videos on your site. There is a tool designed to determine what codec is needed for a video. http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ Hope this is useful to you or your users.

    Scoop says:

I made the .wmv versions of each video. The codecs for these: Windows Video V8, Windows Audio 9. The upside of these is that you know the codecs, and they'll play in the Windows Media Player. The downside is that they are slightly larger, and slightly lower quality.

    Die Serpentintänzerin - 1992 (?)

Today we've got clips from a not that well-known German actress (only one collage in the back issues) in an a strange movie. I'm talking about Karina Fallenstein in "Die Serpentintänzerin" from 1995 according to the IMDb, from 1992 according to the end credits. If I remember correctly it is about a travelling circus in the early 20th century trying to boost its attendance rates. I think it's clear how they tried to achieve that, the method is still effective a century later.

    "Tricks" (1997) (TV)
Mimi Rogers movie starring dozens of topless showgirls. Too many to individually identify but many of them are professional dancers and not the obligatory strippers. A glaring continuity error is Mimi's dance double in a flashback sequence has much smaller boobs.

    • various topless showgirls. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
    • Suzanne Zelmer: topless as Mimi's dance double. Mimi's face superimposed on the poster fooled no one.

    Rescue Me: Inches
Episode similar to Seinfeld's The Contest but it's who has the longest firepole. The dead guy wins at the end.

Da Vinci's Inquest: season one finale

Catherine Zeta-Jones WOW! Many thanks to The Rock for this one! This is probably the best single frame we've ever posted of this scene. Here is Zeta-Jones wearing an ultra-skimpy starfish/clamshell bikini in her very first movie, "1001 Nights" aka "Sheherazade".

    Audie England

    Lori Lively
    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)

Señor Skin 'caps from the wonderful comedy for sci-fi movie geeks, "Free Enterprise" (1998). If you haven't seen it, it's worth checking out for a couple of reasons.

    1.It's a decent gen-xers-turn-30-and-are-forced-to-kinda-grow-up romantic comedy.
2.Nekkid chicks. England goes topless. Lively is topless in original cut and shows even more skin in the deleted scenes.
3.Shatner! Shatner is at his Priceline.com, pre-bubble bursting best! He parodies himself throughout the movie as only he can...110% over the top!
