I just read the news that one of my TV heroes passed away on Wednesday.

Today's Fun House is dedicated to Colonel Wilhelm Klink.

"Quante volte... quella notte" (1972)

In "Quante volte... quella notte" (1972), aka "Four Times That Night," we see quite another side of Mario Bava. This sex comedy roughly based on Roshamon is a far cry from his normal Euro-gore slasher work. What we know for sure:

1) A wealthy playboy took a young woman out
2) At the end of the evening, he had deep scratches on his forehead.
3) She returned home after 3 am with her new dress torn.

We are given 4 versions of what happened. The first is by the young girl, Daniela Giordano, speaking to her mother, who claims to have been lured to his apartment then nearly raped. Next, we hear what her date tells his drinking buddies to explain the scars. He is shy, which is a turn-on to women, and she couldn't keep her hands off of him. She nearly raped him four times, and scratched him in the shower. Then we hear from the doorman at his apartment, who is a voyeur, and lastly, we are told the truth, or some of it.

This is not great cinema. It is roughly on a par with the other ultra-soft exploitation skin flicks that popped up in the early 70's, but is an entertaining one with better than usual acting and production values. I don't understand Italian, but do ok with subtitles. The DVD is full of dirt, spots and flakes, but had good saturation and contrast. I assume they did the transfer from an old print. There are not enough votes at IMDB to pay attention to, but the few comments there agreed with me. It is entertaining enough to watch. There are no reviews that I could find. The credits used well-drawn cartoons (see the image tops), and the characters were engaging. Gather the girl of your choice in your arms, get a tub of buttered pop-corn, and see if you can have her bra off by the end of the movie.

    DVD RELEASES:

    The Cider House Rules (1999). OOPS! On second look, I missed an important frame yesterday! The Charlize nipple does make an appearance in the DVD version of that scene, but not where I expected it! Oh, it's on her chest, all right, but separated from her face by the guy's head.

    TOMCAT MOVIES:

    The big deal of the day is TomCat's captures from this year's Fidelite (2000). What's such a big deal? Well, I'll tell you. The Polish director is the life-partner of a certain famous French star named Marceau, and it isn't Marcel. And that lady removes her clothing in just about every movie she makes, including this one. And this is the first time I've seen any caps from this film. That isn't as cool as if we had Katie Holmes in "The Gift", but it's a pretty good substitute until we do. So here's Sophie. There are also some other miscellaneous women from La Fidelite.

    Another good bit of research here. Tomcat says this one is 19 year old Catherine Deneuve in an obscure Vadim film called "Un Chateau en Suede". I can't offer any corroboration, and the IMDb doesn't list Deneuve in the cast of this film, but it does seem to be her face, and Vadim did discover her and eventually father a son by her, so it makes sense .....

    Vadim was married to Jane Fonda, Maria Schneider, and Bardot, and romanced Deneuve and too many other beautiful women to mention. Unlike John Derek, another director from the same generation (Derek born in August, 1926, Vadim seventeen months later) who engaged in the same kind of pursuit of major babes, Vadim was not a handsome guy, but he obviously had some allure of some kind and a massive ego. Derek, by the way, was married to Ursula Andress, Linda Evans, and Bo Derek. Both Vadim and Derek died recently, at almost the same age. Derek died in May 1998 of heart problems, and Vadim twenty one months later of cancer.

    TomCat also featured Claire Keim in Barracuda (lovely captures), Ariel Besse in Beau-pere, Gladys Jimenez in "Blowback" (first time I've seen this scene), and Marilyn Chambers in Cronenberg's Rabid.

    Here's a bunch of Rasslin caps. One I did this week, and the rest have been spread out over the past couple weeks from Various shows and events.

    First off Leia Meow. aka Kimona, Kimona Wana-Leia etc. (1, 2, 3) The first one is fairly poor quality, I capped it from a tape of WCW Mayhem, I missed the first hour of the PPV and screwed up by taping on SLP, so the tape was really poor quality. The second and third are both from WCW Thunder as I recall, not exactly sure of the second, that could have actually been a Nitro event. But it doesn't really matter. Nuthin' exciting, just some cleavage and such.

    Next is Lita. This one I just capped on Thursday. I usually don't bother capping from WWF anymore, especially Smackdown. UPN has about the worst reception even capping live from Satellite doesn't give real good quality. But I couldn't pass on her In underwear.

    Then there are a couple of Major Gunns, (1, 2) same as usual, cleavage and wedgies. I never really liked her till she started wearing Canadian Flag bras, eh.

    Last up is some cleavage from Torrie Wilson, I actually snapped these frames trying to line up the vertical and horizontal synchronization on my cap card. Then I said wtf, and stuck em together.

    Another rare find...Or perhaps the word I'm looking for is "unique". It seems that Mongoose has a love of German T&A comedies of the 70's and 80's. (The German contemporaries of "Porky's", "Screwballs", etc.) Like their Hollywood counterparts, the stars aren't exactly the biggest names the Fun House has ever seen, but much like a box of Cracker Jacks, there's a little something special inside every vidcap.
