"The L Word" Episodes 11 and 12
The L Word (2004) Episodes 11 and 12. Each episode starts with some scene from another time and place that figures into the episode sometime before it is over. In this case, we see a topless Jade Robertson making a porno film. Katherine Moennig has topless scenes in both episodes, the first in 11 with Mia Kirshner (more about that in it minute) and the second in episode 12 at the Dinah Shore Tennis Classic with the woman assigned to be her hospitality liaison. Episode 12 starts with two unidentified topless women in a swimming pool.
The focus on Jenifer Beals continues as she battles the Christian right, is having doubts about her relationship with Laurel Holloman, and is tempted by a carpentry contractor she hires to build the controversial exhibit. Kirshner is trying hard to enjoy women, and ends up in bed with Moennig, in what I thought was a very real scene. They are both lonely and a little drink, and think sex is the next logical step, but really have no feelings for each other, even less passion, and it is so awkward they end up giving up. Before this scene, the series has depicted perfect sex every time.
One good scene is not enough to save the series, and I am getting weary of all of the characters, none of whom actually ever advance very far from where they started. The upcoming event is obviously the breakup of Marina and Francesca, which will give Kirshner another crack at Marina. Kirshner's husband is romancing one of his female students, which will end in disaster, probably giving Kirshner another failed attempt at hubby. In other words, the future of the series is becoming very predictable, other than the introduction of new characters. With one or two nights of material left to view, I am looking forward to finishing this one off.

Just for fun:
The Man With The Golden Arm (1955)
There is, of course, no nudity in this film. It was made in 1955,
and people were not allowed to see naked people then, or even to be
naked, except in the shower, and even then they had to wear
waterproof blindfolds to prevent them from seeing their own private
parts.
Sunday was, however, the 89th anniversary of Francis Albert's
blue-eyed birthday, and we're
celebrating with some booze, some dames, some ring-a-ding, and a review of what
many consider to be his greatest role. He played a heroin addict and
a poker dealer.
The review is written
by Silver Dollar Sam, our official guru on all poker-related
matters.
Chulpan Khamatova
She's the chick from Good-Bye, Lenin.
ICMS wrote me:
Yo Scoop. Are you aware that you have more material on

Just wanted to let you know.
In His infinite mercy, the Lord had granted me forgetfulness when
it came to Tuvalu. While we're talking about it, here's a scan of
Chulpan showing her impressive chest in a Russian magazine called,

Amadeus (Director's Cut)
If you're like me, you're a sucker for director's cuts. More than
half the time, they turn out to be bullshit excuses to take my
money, but you can't complain about this one - one of the greatest
films ever made, and some topless nudity from Constanze which was
never seen before the Director's Cut. Thank you, Milos Forman! I'm
voting for you for "favorite relative" at the next Forman family
reunion. I know George has a better right cross, and a much better

in the buff.

Words from Scoop.
.avi's from Shiloh.
.wmv files made by Scoop from Shiloh's .avi's.
NOTE: because of a unique combination of
circumstances with the Windows media player and some substantial
bandwidth theft, we will have to do all of our movie files in zip
format. Left click on the files as you normally would to view a
picture. When
you get a choice, click on "save", and put it on your hard drive in
the directory of your choice. UnZIP and play from there.
I know this is not especially convenient, but it
allows the film clips to continue. I can protect .zip files from
hot-linking in the same way I can protect still images. For some
reason, if I protect .avis and .wmvs from hot-linking, they will not
play in the Windows media player, and I can't get a satisfactory
work-around. Perhaps I will find a better solution, but for now this
new policy allows you to continue getting the movie clips you want
to see, which is much preferable to my abandoning the clips
altogether.
Cinderella Liberty (1973)
Marsha Mason was nominated for the Best Actress
statuette four times in less than a decade (1973-1981), but never
won. She really had a terrific shape, but this was the only one of
the four nominated roles in which she flashed the goodies. She also
whipped 'em out for a couple of unnominated performances in Blume in
Love (also 1973) and The Image (1990 - making 17 years between nude
scenes!). She was 48 years old when she did The Image, but she
looked as shapely as ever. Caps from all three flicks are in the
Encyclopedia.
Perhaps these tips will help if you have trouble
with the codecs for these movies:
Shiloh says:
FYI when I hypercam vids to make the file size smaller I use
DivX MPEG-4 Fast-Motion for the video compressor, then I use
virtualdub to compress the audio. The properties for the
vids says the video codec: DivX Decoder Filter & audio
codec: Morgan Stream Switcher which I'm not familiar with.
When I compress the audio with virtualdub I use MPEG
Layer-3. A friend of mine told me about compressing the
audio about (6) mos. ago. Like I said previously, only been
capping for a year & a half & I'm no expert. Hopefully this
info will help members with the proper codecs for my vids.
When I cap big brother's I use hypercam mostly & sdp &
asfrecorder if the set up allows me. I stopped using
camtasia cause the file sizes were always too big, could
never figure out the process, over my head lol, plus it cost
too much to buy in my opinion.
A reader says:
You mentioned that some users were
having trouble with the videos on your site. There is a tool
designed to determine what codec is needed for a video.
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ Hope this is useful to you
or your users.
Scoop says:
I made the .wmv versions of each video. The codecs for these: Windows Video V8, Windows Audio 9.
The upside of these is that you know the codecs, and they'll play in
the Windows Media Player. The downside is that they are slightly
larger, and slightly lower quality.

Aber Doktor (1980)
Scoop's review of Goodbye Lenin portrayed a very accurate
picture of East Germany in my opinion. There really isn't much
to add.
On a personal note I would like to say that I was surprised
to see that the East Germans could travel freely within the
Eastern Block states. Remember how they jumped into their
cardboard 2-stroke Trabants a few weeks before the wall came
down and drove all the way through Czechoslovakia to Hungary
so they could cross the border there and get into Austria and
on to West Germany? This was a big surprise for us here in
Western Europe, where most people didn't even realize that the
Soviets were less than a 4 hours drive away and had never seen
the awful Berlin Wall and the even grimmer Iron Curtain with
their own eyes.
I didn't know very well how to introduce these clips related
to the defunct GDR, but yesterday's review give me a good
opportunity to fit these in. Apparently you were allowed
to laugh in the GDR, at least when the state said so. One
occasion on which it was allowed was in the 1980 comedy "Aber
Doktor". Ursula Staack shows pretty much everything in two
clips, while Czech Julie Juristova goes topless only.
It's time now to end this short follow-up on East Germany and
Goodbye Lenin.
Scoop's note: looks like a dumb movie, but the visual quality of
the clips is quite nice.

'Caps and comments by Dann:
"Species"
This first, and best, of the Species series introduced a darned fine Sci-Fi plot and a beautiful Natasha Henstridge to the world in 1995. I saw it then and loved it, but now that we've just had the release of the third, premiered on the Sci-Fi channel then released direct to DVD, I thought it was time I went back and capped the original. I have already done (a really bad collage of) Species II, and I will be doing Species III, but here's the best of the bunch.
Scientists make contact with an alien species, who among other things sends them information on how to combine the alien DNA with human DNA. The scientists do an "experiment" which produces a female baby that grows incredibly fast, becoming a 12 year old almost overnight (played, incidentially, by then-15 year old Michelle Williams).
When it's decided to "end" the experiment by fatally gassing the child, the half-alien gets rather resentful, and escapes. Then, as she continues to grow, she goes on a killing rampage while attempting to mate.
Definitely a modern Sci-Fi classic, and definitely a must-watch. If you've been herding sheep on some remote mountaintop and missed this movie, I suggest you rent it.
