"Switch" (1991)
Switch (1991) is an HBO film written and directed by Blake Edwards, and staring Ellen Barkin as a man who was so bad in his treatment of women that three of his ex girlfriends (Lysette Anthony, JoBeth Williams, and Victoria Mahoney) killed him , first drowning him in a Jacuzzi, then shooting him three times. He lands in purgatory, where God decides to send him back to earth. If he can find one woman who loved him, he will be admitted to heaven. Satan complains that he will have no trouble seducing some unfortunate woman, but offers the perfect solution -- send him back as a woman.
Much of Barkin's "business" in this role was trite and predictable. She couldn't walk in heels, kept referring to herself as a man, smoked a cigar, loved her own breasts, and ended up pregnant. However, there were subtle aspects to her performance that saved this film for me. She sat like a man, legs spread and showing her crotch, scratched when and where she felt like it, and was very convincing ogling women in bars. The only other decent performance was from JoBeth Williams as one of the ex girlfriends. The ending was telegraphed a third of the way into the film. A much better film could have been made with the same premise and the same cast, but a lot more imagination.
Maltin says 1 1/2 but also liked Barkin, and Ebert is a little more generous at 2 1/2. I would say Ebert is about right, but 480 IMDB readers say 4.8/10. Gross was $15.5m. I am not sorry I watched it, but see it as a mostly missed opportunity.

I looked over This is Spinal Tap. The 1984 movie was already a four-star comedy classic, but the DVD has about three times as much - 100 mnutes of unused footage, all the funny ads, all-new full length commentary by the members of Spinal Tap. A knockout! (Still no female nudity, sorry) At Scoopy TV, I placed a video clip in various formats of one of the original trailers for the movie. The friggin' thing is 90 minutesof comedy genius.
And then I watched a serious movie - well, maybe just a different kind of humor, with witty epigrams instead of fart jokes. Good film, but maybe not for everyone - the Jane Austen adaptation, Mansfield Park. In addition to Victoria Hamilton's breasts, the film featured a woma who is billed as Sophia Myles, but has to be Leonardo DiCaprio in drag -check her out.

Ashley is a beauty in the classic style, who appeared in one other movie (Student Nurses) and then....disappeared. I don't get it, because she is no worse at acting than most long-term B movie bims and is, IMHO, a whole lot better looking. Ashley played the earnest nurse in Young Nurses. Had three sorta kinda nude scenes: one in which she changed into her nurses uniform (with her back to camera), one in an outdoor shower with the stud doctor (with her back to the camera or arms strategically placed). Coulda capped them both but there just wasn't that much to look at. So I got the last one, a scene in which Ashley strips off her uniform as she runs into the ocean. Don't ask why. Scene starts out with Ashley and the cameraman occupying different zip codes, but in a jump cut she runs by so close to the camera it's a wonder she didn't hit something
vital against it. The sequence in which the camera follows her into the ocean cannot be fully appreciated in live motion; the caps do a better job of picking up the goodies. Ashley Porter seemed like a name I recognized so I typed it into Google. Found a picture of a guy who had won a trophy for shooting the largest buck and a lot of genealogy stuff, but no sign of the lovely, erstwhile actress. What a tragedy.

Kimberly plays the comic relief, a candystriper who takes the command to provide comfort most seriously. In her one nude scene of the movie, she is caught in bed with an obviously healthy young guy. Ms. Hyde has been seen nekkid by most of us as one of the skinny dipping pool babes in Last Picture Show.

Lastly, we have Angela Gibb, the actress with the longest resume in this cast. Angels gets close but no cigar nekkid in the best shot scene of the movie. Because this apparently is as close as she gets to nekkid in any of her movies and because I liked the way the caps came out, I am sending them along for good measure.

Now, this is a comedy show! Armstrong and Miller are a comedy duo from England and in their show they did a series of sketches called Nude Practice. For those familiar with English television it was a cross between All Creatures Great and Small and Peak Practice. Sarah Alexander was one of three country veterinarians who spent their whole day nude. Not a pleasant thought in the north of England.

"The Rage - Carrie 2" is a teen flick that is very similar to the original, even set in the same locale with flash backs to the original. No real nudity in these caps. In the movie the boys are bedding the girls for points - Emily Bergl is one of the girls. Charlotte Ayanna is the virgin with the bonus points. She's also the one with the psychic powers! The ending is almost a carbon copy of the Sissy Spacek film. There's a party, Charlotte is humiliated, and the blood and bodies start to flow.

"Instant Justice" stars Tawny Kitaen as a high-class prostitute who 'doesn't audition'. That ought to tell you that this movie is only just worth watching. She teams up with the hero who is trying to find out who killed his sister. Tessa Hewitt is a nude model who seems to be only in the movie so that we can see some nudity. I know this is far from the new release rack, but all Sidaris movies pretty much have a permanent home in the Fun House. This actually stands apart from most of the images we see from those movies. As opposed to all of the talented vidcappers trying to make gold from the lead film quality of those low-budget masterpieces...to me it looks like what we have here is a scan of a production still from "The Dallas Connection". Great stuff if you like your movies chock full of guns, and nekkid chicks! Thanks to The Night.
