It's not generally noted that 1994 was an astounding year for movies, but it should be. Forrest Gump is currently rated #13 of all time at IMDb; Pulp Fiction is rated #7; The Shawshank Redemption is #1. They were all nominated for Best Picture Oscars. The great debate that year was Pulp Fiction vs Gump. Nobody ever dreamed that Shawshank would someday have a claim to the considered the best film of all time. (I still find it hard to believe. I like Shawshank, but ... best of all time?)

Next on the list is Leon: the Professional at #27 and The Lion King at #54. The other Oscar nominees that year were Quiz Show and Four Weddings and a Funeral. Other 1994 films I love: Nell, Ed Wood, Legends of the Fall, Speed, True Lies, Burnt by the Sun. I wasn't really aware of it at the time, but that was a helluva year for the movies.
